Mudras have been used for many thousands of years in Eastern cultures as a way to enlightenment, mudras are still used today. To heighten the effect, one may chant a specific sound for each chakra.For all of the below, sit either in lotus position with your spine straight and your body relaxed or, sit in a chair in a comfortable position with your feet solidly touching the floor.Mudra to open your first chakra:Let the tips of your thumb and index finger touch. Put your mind on your first chakra, between the genitals and anus. Chant the sound LAM slowly 3 times. (A = always sounds like ah)Mudra to open your second chakra:Place your hands in your lap with your palms up, the left hand underneath, The tips of your thumbs are touching gently. Keep your mind on your sacral bone, your tailbone. Chant VAM slowly 3 timesMudra to open your third chakra:Place your hands in front of your belly button. Let the fingers join at the tops, pointing away from you. Cross the thumbs right over left. Keep your fingers straight. Keep your mind on your belly button and 2 inches inward. Chant the sound RAM 3 times.Mudra to open the fourth, or heart chakra:Let the tips of your index finger and thumb touch. Place your left hand on your left knee and your right hand in front of the lower part of your breast bone above your solar plexus. Keep your mind on your heart chakra, in the middle of your chest. Chant the sound YAM 3 times.Mudra to open the 5th or throat chakra:Make a circle with your hands, like this: Place your right hand flat and place your left fingers on top of your right fingers. Make a circle by touching the tips of your thumbs together. Pull your thumbs up a bit. Put your mind on your Adam’s apple. Chant the sound HAM 3 times.Mudra to open your 6th chakra, or third eye:Place your hands in front of your sternum, not below it, at your solar plexus, just above your solar plexus. Place your two middle fingers together facing forward and straight. The knuckles of all of your other fingers (aside from your thumbs) fold in and touch easily at the second joint counting from the top. The thumbs touch tips and point towards your sternum. Put your mind on your third eye, between and just above your eyebrows. Chant the sound OM or AUM 3 times.Mudra to open your 7th chakra or crown chakra:Place your hands in front of your belly button. Allow the ring fingers to point up and touch at their tips. Cross the rest of your fingers, with the left thumb underneath the right. Put your mind on the top of your head. Chant the sound NG 3 times. (ING)If you feel dizzy after opening your crown, go back and open the root again. Lie down for a while. It will go away. You just have too much energy in your higher chakras compared to your lower chakras. This is common these days.
